About Us

Steaming on the Downs Inc. was formed as a social organisation to encourage the preservation, restoration, promotion and displaying of all types of Steam Engines, Steam Engineering skills & Model Engineering generally.

We represent a ‘tree change’ within the Steam Preservation and Model Engineering movement with a relaxed style of participation and activity base that is flexible to suit our members.

We welcome your ideas and input on how we can enhance the experience for our members and the community.

For the heritage steam engine enthusiast we work with many organisations across Southern Queensland to enhance public exposure for our movable heritage with our members owning and displaying a large range of heritage steam machinery.

The club has an annual membership fee of $60.00. We actively seek and welcome ideas and input on how we can enhance the experience for our members and the community. Click HERE to visit our membership page.

About US #3

We hold our meetings every two (2) months in conjunction with a member’s ‘play day’.

Additionally, we attend local events such as rallies, community festivals and agricultural shows, as well as support the events of other ‘like-minded’ organisations and as such, we do not have a base of our own but rather support and enhance the events of other community organisations.

For miniature railway enthusiasts, we have built a strong relationship with Grandchester Model Live Steam Locomotive Association and support them in their endeavours.
